Our 2024 programme sees a reinvigorated commitment to the rail enthusiast community. Our new ‘Off the Beaten Track’ collection of tours are aimed directly at the enthusiast market and you can expect us to take a passenger train to visit some very infrequently visited backwaters of the railway network. Where possible we aim to provide unusual traction, often featuring freight locomotives that have rarely – if ever – worked passenger services before. Other enthusiast-focused tours will see us take locomotive hauled trains to branch lines usually only served by the ubiquitous multiple unit.
At the same time we will continue to provide our long-standing customers the opportunity to join us aboard our more traditional ‘Great Days Out’ – a market that we have thoroughly enjoyed participating in over recent years. Stately homes, national gardens, river cruises and museums are among the many fascinating destinations we will visit in 2024.
Another change in 2024 sees us increasingly cater for our customers outside of London and the south east. Look out for mini tours, featuring shorter circular tours with enthusiast content and also more tours starting from new locations.
The majority of our tours use British Rail Mk2 air-conditioned carriages, but several tours in the programme see us utilise a range of different coaching stock including the ever popular Hastings Diesel Electric Multiple Unit and the iconic Intercity High Speed Train. On the vast majority of our tours we offer a range of catering options, including First Class Dining featuring food freshly cooked on board served to your first class seat. Alternatively passengers in First Class Non-Dining and Standard Class can visit our well-stocked licensed buffet car for a range of hot and cold snacks and light refreshments.
